Note
Every Shipper in Orbit keeps an Address Book — the places it collects from and delivers to, the individual docks within them, and the people to contact at each. Choosing a saved location when you book a transport fills in the pickup and dropoff details for you.
In logistics you visit the same places over and over — the same warehouses, the same customer sites, the same depots. The Address Book lets you record each of those places once, together with how to reach it and when it is open, so you never re-type the same details on every booking. It belongs to the Shipper the work is booked for, so each customer's own locations stay together in one place.
Key highlights:
Shipper uses is stored once, with its full address and a position on the map.Shipper has its own Address Book, tied to that customer. In Orbit MissionControl, open a Shipper and go to its Address Book. Each saved place is shown as an entry you can open, edit, and reuse, and you add a new one with Create Shipper Address.
A saved address holds the company name, street, postcode, city and country. When you save it, Orbit locates it on the map, so any stop built from that address sits in the right place for routing and live tracking. An address can also carry its own opening hours and custom fields, so everything about that location travels with it.
Larger sites rarely have a single entrance. A Loading Point is a specific dock or gate within one address, managed on its own. A loading point can be limited to collections only or deliveries only, and can keep its own opening hours — which may be tighter than, or simply different from, the site as a whole. When a booking names a particular dock, its details are used in place of the address's general ones. Opening hours for both addresses and docks are covered in the Operating Hours for Locations article.
A Contact is a person at a location — a warehouse supervisor, a site manager, a goods-in desk. Each contact can hold several ways to reach them, such as a phone, a mobile, an email and a fax, with one marked as the primary channel. Saving contacts against a location means the right person's details ride along whenever that location is used on a booking.
When you build a transport in Orbit MissionControl — or when a customer books through Orbit Hub — choosing a saved location fills in its address, map position, contact and opening hours in one step, rather than typing them again. A small badge marks an address that came from the Address Book. If you adjust a detail on that one booking, only the booking changes; the saved entry stays as it is.
This is also why a stop can look "empty" without anything being wrong. If a stop shows no contact or no opening hours, those details usually live on the saved address it was built from, not on the stop itself — follow the location to see them.
Orion Industries, a customer of a logistics company in Lisbon, collects from the same factory in Porto every week. An operator saves the Porto factory once in Orion Industries' Address Book: the full address, placed automatically on the map; a goods-in Contact named Sofia with her mobile number; and a Loading Point for the east dock that only accepts collections. From then on, every booking from that factory starts with those details already in place — the operator picks the saved location, and the pickup is ready to plan.
Each Shipper has its own Address Book, so a customer's saved locations stay with that customer. For how shippers, teams and users are organised, see Shippers, Shipper Teams, and Shipper Users.
Yes. Add a Loading Point for each dock or gate. Each can allow only collections or only deliveries and can keep its own opening hours.
Only that booking is affected. The saved entry in the Address Book is left untouched.
They are usually inherited from the saved address the stop was built from, not missing. Open the location to see them.
